Welcome to the Applied Social Cognition Laboratory
at the
University of North Dakota

Welcome to the Applied Social Cognition Laboratory (ASCL) website! My name is Andre Kehn, and I am an Associate Professor of Psychology at the University of North Dakota (UND).

I founded ASCL when I arrived at UND in 2010. Since that time, research in the lab has focused on social and cognitive processes relevant to the legal system. Some of the questions our research team aims to answer include:

     1. What cognitive processes do jurors use when making decisions about a case?

     2. How does a person's social identity affect how they are perceived in the courtroom?

     3. How well do jurors understand their own decision-making biases, and how can we correct these biases?

I am actively recruiting graduate students for all of our graduate programs who share my research interests. If you have questions about UND, our graduate programs, or my research lab, please contact me at via email.

Where can I find ASCL?

Our lab is located in the basement of Columbia Hall in the newly renovated research space of the Psychology Department.
